An Awareness Campaign on Fire Safety and Prevention by JDBI A fire can happen at any time at any place ir- respective of its occupancy status. On an aver- age, in India, every year, about 25,000 persons die due to fires and related causes. Probably many of these deaths could have been prevented if correct measure were taken to prevent the fire in the first place. Most people do not give impor- tance to fire safety measures or even know ways to prevent fire. Educational Institutions can come forward in this regard and educate the youngsters on importance of fire safety and ways of prevent- ing and arresting fires. It is required that they be made aware of their vulnerability to the risk due to fire hazards, and about the simple actions they can take to reduce this risk.
